Day 1 in South Lake Tahoe: Timberlodge – Arrival & Check In

Our trip was for 7 days and 6 nights. We chose to go to Heavenly Resort in October, because it’s not crowded, not too cold and not too hot for hiking. All of our activities are great fun for all ages.
Day 2 in South Lake Tahoe: Went on the Van Sickle Trail

We started on the Van Sickle Hiking Trail, which is walking distance to the resort. It’s right on the state line and there is a tranquil waterfall at the top.
Day 3 in South Lake Tahoe: Went on the Eagle Lake Trails

We drove out to Eagle Lake Trail, which is about a 20-30 minute scenic drive. The hike loop was about 1 hour each way, but once you get to the top you will see a beautiful lake shoreline.
Day 4 in South Lake Tahoe: Went to the Vikingsholm Castle

We found out about this castle called, Vikingsholm, which was built on the lakeshore in the early 1900’s. So we decided to go check it out.
Day 5 in South Lake Tahoe: Went Biking to Nevada Beach

We decided to take a break from hiking and rent some bikes for the day and ride around the easy trails near the lake.
Day 6 in South Lake Tahoe: Went hiking on the Cascade Falls Trails

After we finished the hike, we stopped at Tallac Historical Museum on the way back. I’m glad we stopped. You wouldn’t know it but there is a bar and grill. It’s called the Beacon Bar & Grill. Perfect for hungry hikers.
Day 7 in South Lake Tahoe: Went hiking on the DL Bliss & Rubicon Trails

Sadly we were on our last day of the trip, but we ended up going to the best hiking trail of the trip on our last day. It was called the DL Bliss Park, Rubicon Trail / Lighthouse Trail. This was certainly the best day of the whole trip.
