Day 4 was rained out so we decided to visit Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville, WA. This was a scenic 20-minute drive for us and a delightful experience. Nestled in a picturesque setting, the winery greeted us with its stunning landscape of lush vineyards and well-manicured gardens. With its elegant architecture, the historic chateau added a touch of old-world charm, making us feel like we had entered a different era.

We started our visit with a guided tour of the winery. Our knowledgeable guide walked us through the history of Chateau Ste. Michelle, explaining its origins and growth into one of the oldest and most acclaimed wineries in Washington State. We learned about the winemaking process, from the careful cultivation of the grapes to the art of fermentation and aging. Seeing the giant oak barrels and stainless steel tanks up close gave us a new appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in winemaking.

After the tour, we headed to the tasting room, a spacious area filled with natural light and offering a view of the surrounding vineyards. We sampled a variety of wines, each with its unique flavor profile. The staff was friendly and informative, providing insights into each wine’s characteristics and suggesting food pairings. The Riesling, a specialty of the winery, was particularly impressive with its crisp, refreshing taste.
